Social Effects

Effects of Drugs on relationships and your future: The use of drugs does not only affect the user’s mind and body, it can also have negative implications on his/her future as well as relationships. Violence and conflicts may arise when the need for money to secure the next dose of drug becomes overwhelming for the drug addicts/abusers. In time, these violence and conflicts may become a common occurrence, hence leading to soured relationships. In addition, the side effects of drugs can also have a negative impact on the user’s productivity, and eventually the drug user may lose his/her job.

Safety: Drug abusers/addicts have an increased chance of being overdosed. Users of illegal drugs are also at a higher risk of being caught up in situations, which endangers the lives of themselves or people around them. The use of drugs may lead to rash acts like reckless driving, which poses danger to many road users.

Financial pressures and mounting debts: Being addicted to drugs can lead to serious financial issues to the drug users. This can also implicate the family members of the drug addicts. There are many cases of drug addicts/abusers committing to crimes such as robbery and theft; or even murdering for money, in order to get their next dose of drug.

Violence: Drug users are sometimes more prone to violent behaviours. Violence caused by drugs can bring about serious harm to the drug users and also to people around them. Also, drug users may commit serious unlawful acts such as murder and rape after taking drugs.
