Energy from Combustion

First Law of Thermodynamics (Potential/Kinetic Energy)

First Law: The energy of the universe is constant. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; but it can be converted from one form to another.

Potential energy is energy due to position or composition.

Kinetic energy is energy due to movement.

Second Law of Thermodynamics

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that the state of entropy of the entire universe, as an isolated system, will always increase over time. The second law also states that the changes in the entropy in the universe can never be negative.

Third Law of Thermodynamics

The Third Law of Thermodynamics is concerned with the limiting behaviour of systems as the temperature approaches absolute zero. The Third Law states, “The entropy of a perfect crystal is zero when the temperature of the crystal is equal to absolute zero (0 K).”
