There are 3 basic layers that make up the ozone layer… the mesosphere, stratosphere and the troposphere. In modern times, the increased usage of CFCs from industrial activities has resulted in the creation of Chlorine free radicals in the ozone layer. These radicals have progressively depleted the ozone layer via a process called the Chapman cycle. Despite global efforts to reduce ozone depletion, mankind still accelerates this process every day.
